THE HONOLULU MARATHON IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RACES.
Next to Boston and Chicago, I've run Honolulu
more often than any other marathon: ten times, most
recently with the Runner's World pacing teams
in 1999. I'm not alone in my love for the Hawaiian
Islands. The Honolulu Marathon attracted more than
20,000 runners last year. Is it the race's Aloha spirit?
The tropical breezes? The swaying palm trees? The
magic of Hawaii? No matter. Honolulu is a great marathon
that any runner would love to run.
Would you like to be there when the skyrockets light
the sky above Ala Moana Boulevard this December? Here
is your Honolulu Marathon Do-It-Yourself Tour.
In the past, I've led groups to Honolulu not only to run
the race, but also to do Volcano
Runs on the islands of Hawaii, Oahu and Maui. I know
about Airline
Flights, restaurants and sightseeing. Now I'm going to
share that knowledge and tell you how to create your own Itinerary,
a Do-It-Yourself Tour of the Honolulu Marathon. I'll also
offer you Training
advice.
Usually I stay near Waikiki beach on the marathon
course, so I know all about Hotels.
