How to Order Art by Hal Higdon

Now you can order original art work by Hal Higdon online. It's as easy as ordering one of his running books. Here's how to do it.

First, surf through the various screens, using the links below. Pick out the painting, or paintings, that you are interested in purchasing. Most of the paintings are acrylic on canvas. A few are oil, also canvas. Others are watercolors or black and white sketches. All are original, signed by Hal. If there is any question in your mind, just ask!

How do you ask? Simple. Just give us a call at 219-879-0133 or at our toll-free number, 888-662-7786. Rose usually answers the phone and takes book orders, but in the case of paintings, you probably will eventually need to ask for the artist. Or send him an email message at: halhigdon@comcast.net.  Title it: Question About Art.

Some of the paintings are framed. A few (particularly the watercolors and sketches) are framed under glass. Not all of these photographed well, coming out much darker than they actually are because of reflection off of the glass. We are currently trying to get better images done. Many of Hal's Pop Art paintings, however, are done on wrap-around canvases, meaning the canvas wraps around the back of the canvas, so the canvas, in effect, becomes the frame. On wraparound paintings, Hal continues the art onto the sides of the canvas. For instance, in the COM painting, one of The Batman's eyes is on the side of the canvas. It's a touch that Roy Lichtenstein often used.

Although descriptions accompany all the paintings on the other screens, you might not be able to easily visualize how the art will look hanging in your house. Many of Hal's paintings are large, very large, for instance the painting of Tiger Woods. It's 4 feet by 4 feet. But really, what does that mean? Using our digital camera, we can take a picture of how the art looks hanging in Hal's house with one of us standing near it to help you in making your decision. We can send you these photos as an email attachment.

Disclaimer: Be aware that despite the marvels of digital photography, it is difficult to capture the exact colors of the paintings online. In most cases, the colors are brighter, more vivid, since Hal likes to paint using primary colors straight from the tube.

Payment: As with books, we accept Visa or Master cards, over the phone (888-662-7786), by fax (219-874-7413) or by email: RoadrunnerPress@halhigdon.com. If you want, use our book order form to send us this information.  Or write us a check and stick it in the mail. The price of the paintings is as stated plus shipping costs. (We'll let you know how much when we talk to you.) If you live in the Chicago area, you may be able to save money by picking up the art in Long Beach, Indiana, or since we travel into Chicago frequently, we may be able to deliver it in some instances. The same is true if you live near Jacksonville, Florida, since we now spend winters in Ponte Vedra Beach. (Our phone number there is 904-543-8771, although we regularly access our answering machine back home.) Just ask. If you order more than one painting, we may be able to negotiate a discount. Again, just ask.

Availability: While most of the paintings can be made quickly available, sometimes Hal exhibits his work in shows or in galleries, which may delay delivery somewhat. A small number are in our condo in Florida. And since Hal's paintings have begun to sell quite well, a few may be gone by the time you contact us.

Commission a painting: We will continue to display sold paintings online to demonstrate the versatility of Hal's art. Hal will also work on commission, meaning Hal will paint something specifically for you! If you are interested in a particular subject and want to commission a specific work of art, again, just ask!

We hope that you enjoy the original art of Hal Higdon. We welcome your comments and questions--and purchases--at: halhigdon@comcast.net.
